How to kick lazy vibes

SO! it’s been over a month and I noticed that despite the free time I have to write, I was bit by the lazy bug. There’s definitely more to why I haven’t posted in a while but I’m a baby step kind of person and this week I decided to focus on my lazybones.

Signs of lazybones:

Waking up late.
Doing the minimum.
Complacency
Creative block.

Tips & Tricks:

Just go to sleep earlier

I know, easier said than done. Well, I feel you.

Whatever haunts your head at night, know I’m right there with you.

I have always been a night owl so I like to draw or write like I’m playing the organ in some basement… (I could use more ZZZs.) On the nights I just want to rest, I find myself troubled, by thoughts that buzz around my head like an angry hive of mud wasps. Some are recent; others are far behind me, some are beneficial; others not so much.

I know that sometimes those pesky concerns, hopes & fears can be difficult to deal with when you’re trying to be the sexy human being that you are. However, you are awesome and with that awesomeness, you can conquer your brain.

This will do the trick!: An eye mask, soothing cup of tea, or a nice book sends me straight to snoozeville. (See also Meditation and Self Care!)

Set alarms!

Breakfast, lunch & dinner!

Eating late can cause nightmares and stress on your body. By eating at least 3 hours before bedtime, you allow your body to digest your food and wind down. Another benefit to scheduled eating is weight loss! If you’re like me, you love cooking all your meals and trying different recipes! Unless you’re a pro it is pretty darn hard to cook new things every day so make it easy on yourself and perfect your favorite meals! My favorite meal is a variation of a Chipotle bowl! It helps keep me in line with portion control so I don’t eat too much of one thing.

That’ll do the trick!: Write a menu of your favorite meals, meal prep if you don’t want to cook every day, and switch out sugary-caffeinated drinks for water!

Meditation

I like reading outside if the weather permits and in bed to allow me to drift off. Sometimes reading alone gets boring so I make it fun to read out loud to Momoa. He tolerates Stephen King but really enjoys comics and children’s books. Don’t have anyone to read to?

Visit your local cemetery or park, find a bench and feel the warmth spill over as you read to the crowd. Plants are people too!

Books ain’t your thing? That’s okay! Try watching a movie you’ve never seen before or take a walk and try to find something you’ve never noticed.

Meditation: This word is very flexible. You don’t have to sit legs crossed and expel sounds if you don’t want to. ( I personally enjoy hearing the weirdness that I didn’t expect to blurb.) Prayer, exercise, breath counting, and even just listening to music can help relieve your active mind. The sky is the limit!

Make yourself at home, wherever you decide to be. Listen to music without words, you may find yourself a poet! Bring in a friend or family member! You never know what you may learn from another perspective!

Self Love & Grooming

I like to look in the mirror and talk to myself about what I did that day and what I can do better the next day. This is like meditation but with an objective to solve whatever problem may arise so that when your head lays down, your brain has the weaponry to fight for you! (I usually brush my teeth or moisturize during this.)

Don’t forget to drink plenty of water! Water, water, water, water, WATER!.. I’m serious. DRINK WATER!

Self love: a state of appreciation for oneself that grows from actions that support our physical, psychological and spiritual growth. Self-love means having a high regard for your own well-being and happiness.

This will do the trick!: Make sticky notes with quotes and compliments! Pamper yourself with a new moisturizer or body scrub! Internal and external beauty go hand in hand! Don’t be afraid to ask yourself hard questions and forgive yourself for whatever dwells. We can’t change the past, we can only transform our future!

Those were my tips and tricks to kick the lazybones! I’m glad you came and I hope to have offered some help! Let me know in the comments which you liked, disliked, and what you do when you get bit by the lazy bug!

Till next time!

XOXO
